Welcome to my blog. I write about things that come up or interest me. I hope you find some of it interesting, strange, or even relatable.

Smoothy Freezer Cups

Smoothy Freezer Cups

To get greens into my kids’ diet, I started to make green smoothies at home years back. We add a variety of fruits, plus a lot of kale or spinach. At times carrot juice might get added as well. All gets topped off with water and some elderberry syrup at times.

However, the act of getting all of those ingredients out every time during a busy day had me skip days more than I should have.  Getting those nutrients in should be on my absolute priority list after all. To turn things around, I started trying a variety of portion size freezer storage options. Sadly, glass or some plastic containers left the ingredients stuck to it and a quick removal was not an option. I also didn’t want to use regular zip top bags. After a few years and some research, I found the absolute perfect solution. Zip Top cups. They are silicone containers, super flexible to squeeze and remove the contents. Plus, they are round, which makes the portioning and dumping the contents into the blender a breeze. No more spills next to it. Brilliant. Now I assemble once a week. Easy meal prep and no more sad kale or overripe fruit to worry about. We’ve used them now for a few years and they have held up great. None broke, ripped or stained. And they are dishwasher safe. I simply stick them on the top rack and then let them dry on a rack for bit afterwards.  I’m a fan…can you tell lol?
